Ingredients
For 1 servings
- 150 g shelf-stable ready-to-eat white rice
- 75 g commercially fully cooked chicken breast
- 40 g commercially fully cooked ham
- 100 g frozen broccoli floret
- 25 g cheddar cheese
- 45 ml milk
- 15 ml water
- 0.5 g garlic powder
Instructions
- 1
Dice the fully cooked chicken and ham into small pieces and finely chop the cheddar. All timings below use a 1000-watt microwave at full power.
- 2
Put the frozen broccoli and water in a 1.2-litre microwave-safe bowl. Cover with a vented microwave-safe lid and microwave for 2 minutes, stirring and rotating the bowl halfway through. Leave the water in the bowl.
- 3
Add the ready-to-eat rice directly from its package, breaking up any clumps. Stir in the chicken, ham, milk and garlic powder. Cover with the vented lid and microwave for 3 minutes, stirring thoroughly and rotating the bowl after 90 seconds.
- 4
Stir in the cheddar. Cover with the vented lid and microwave for 1 minute, stirring after 30 seconds.
- 5
Leave covered for 3 minutes, then stir and check several spots, including the center and chicken pieces, with a food thermometer: everything must reach 165°F/74°C. If needed, microwave covered at full power in additional 30-second intervals, stirring between intervals, then repeat the covered 3-minute stand and temperature check.
- 6
Keep the chicken, ham, milk and cheddar refrigerated until needed. Refrigerate any leftovers within 2 hours.
