Ingredients

For 4 servings

  • 400 g spaghetti
  • 400 g canned white beans
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • salt — to taste
  • black pepper — to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

While the spaghetti is cooking, finely chop the onion and garlic.

  3. 3

In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and saute until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

Add the canned white beans (including their liquid) to the pan. Stir in lemon juice, oregano, and basil. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, mashing some beans for a thicker sauce.

  5. 5

Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.

  6. 6

Combine the cooked spaghetti with the sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly. Serve immediately.
