Ingredients

For 4 servings

  • 600 g ground turkey
  • 400 g broccoli florets
  • 1 onion
  • 2 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 250 ml low-fat milk
  • 100 g cheddar cheese
  • 50 g bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).

  2. 2

Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook until browned, about 6-8 minutes, breaking it up with a spoon. Remove from pan and set aside.

  3. 3

In the same pan, add remaining olive oil, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  4. 4

Add broccoli florets to the pan and cook for another 4-5 minutes until slightly tender.

  5. 5

Return the cooked ground turkey to the pan and season with salt and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  6. 6

In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until a paste forms. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes until thickened.

  7. 7

Pour the milk mixture over the turkey and broccoli mixture. Stir to combine.

  8. 8

Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese and bread crumbs evenly on top.

  9. 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and the top is golden brown.

  10. 10

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
