Ingredients

- 1 cup white rice
- 1 cup dry lentils
- 1 onion
- 1 carrot
- 1 cup canned diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground paprika
- salt — to taste
- black pepper — to taste
- 2 cups water

Rinse the lentils in cold water and set aside.

Finely chop the onion and garlic, and dice the carrot.
