Ingredients

For 4 servings

  • 800 g cod fillet
  • 4 lime
  • 8 clove garlic
  • 4 Thai red chili
  • 4 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 120 ml water
  • 1 bunch cilantro

Instructions

  1. 1

Rinse the cod fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

Juice the limes and set the juice aside.

  3. 3

Peel and finely chop the garlic cloves.

  4. 4

Slice the Thai red chilies thinly, adjusting the amount to your heat preference.

  5. 5

In a small bowl, combine lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, and water, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

  6. 6

In a large steaming setup, such as a bamboo steamer or steam basket, place the cod fillets evenly spaced.

  7. 7

Pour the lime and fish sauce mixture over the fish fillets, then sprinkle chopped garlic and sliced chilies on top.

  8. 8

Cover and steam the fish over simmering water for 15-20 minutes, until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

  9. 9

Garnish the steamed fish with fresh cilantro leaves before serving.
